Professor Antonio Bellasi

 

Since medical school Dr Bellasi has developed a strong interest in mineral metabolism abnormalities and their impact on the cardiovascular system in Chronic Kidney 2
Disease (CKD) as well as normal kidney function individuals. After various internships at University Hospitals in Spain, Sweden, and Italy, he graduated from the Medical School of the University of Milan, Italy, in October 2002. He finalized his post-graduate training in Nephrology and graduated from the University of Milan in November 2007. He attended a cardio-nephrology research fellowship at Tulane University in New Orleans (LA), U.S.A and at Emory University in Atlanta (GA), U.S.A.. Furthermore, Dr Bellasi successfully completed a master in Epidemiology and Statistics at the University of Milan in 2009. Dr Bellasi is presently serving as Nephrology consultant and he is responsible for the Clinical Trial Center at ASST Papa Giovanni XXIII, Bergamo, Italy. His current interest is cardiovascular disease in chronic kidney disease patients. He is a coauthor of more than 150 publications (145 of which listed on PubMed- H index 30; i10-index 68; citations 4072; source Google Scholar, September 24th, 2019) mainly focused on screening, imaging, prevention and treatment of vascular calcification and mineral metabolism abnormalities. His research has been published in journals as Kidney International, Nephrology Dialysis and Transplantation, clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, Hypertension, American Journal of Cardiology, American Journal of Kidney Disease, Current Opinion in Nephrology and Hypertension and Current Opinion in Cardiology. Dr. Bellasi is also currently a reviewer for numerous journals. From 2012 to 2015 he was one of the member of the Steering Committee of the Cardionephrology Working Group of the Italian Society of Nephrology. Since 2013 he is a board member of the Steering Committee of the Italian Society of Nephrology. Since 2013 he serves as associated editor of the Italian Journal of Nephrology (Giornale Italiano di Nefrologia- GIN) and since 2018 as co-Editor in chief of the Journal of Nephrology (JN), the Official Organs of the Italian Society of Nephrology.
