For more than 20 years my major interest and focus for my research has been hypertension and risk stratification based on ambulatory blood pressure measurement and arterial stiffness.
Since 2012, I have worked as senior researcher at the Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen, Denmark. Here I promote clinical studies of arterial structure and function in persons with high risk populations with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. I consider that a strategy to reduce the epidemic of cardiovascular disease is to obtain a better understanding of the impact of changes in the microcirculation. Therefore, I have commenced non-invasive examination of various aspects of the microcirculation.
When I am not at work I enjoy driving my bike, playing badminton with my family and cook in the garden.
